Last Saturday, June 6, was the day of Carissa's bridal shower. It was held in the basement of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville, IL. Liz and I carpooled to the "baking themed" shower. My mom and Jaime and Colleen also attended. I enjoyed telling the group of 18 how I played matchmaker and fixed Carissa and Ben up by inviting both of them to a group outing to see the Shakespeare Festival in Forest Park.
I stayed on points and did not indulge in any of the yummy desserts. Carissa's matron of honor had some fun "baking themed" games set up for the ladies to play. One game was predicting how many pieces of candy were in the measuring cups. There were three measuring cups to guess and I guessed correctly on two, winning the measuring cups and the candy! Another game involved guessing the powered baking substances in the baggies. I didn't do as well on this game, but it was a creative game to play at a shower! Everyone left with a CD filled with baking themed music. Carissa received many thoughtful gifts and I enjoyed spending time with my mom and some of my friends. Since the shower was at Zion Lutheran, the church Ken and I were married in, the day brought back pleasant memories of our wedding day and the fun I had at the my bridal showers.
After the shower, Liz, Jaime, and Colleen came over to my mom and dad's house and we enjoyed sipping iced tea on the patio. Dad has done a wonderful job planting flowers around the yard. The yard looks stunning! What a beautiful day for a bridal shower!
